What is a Trollmate? And Other Information

My name is Taylor, and I came up with the idea for this blog about a year or so ago when I realized that half the time, I had no clue what my boyfriend was talking about. I wanted to make it a book, but I think a blog is an even better medium for this information.

This blog is for those girls who are dating guys who are a part of the technology age, be that by playing video games, browsing the net, or hacking into their friends computers. If your man pushes buttons or throws cards for at least an hour a day, this blog is for you.

Even if you play games yourself, dating a gamer can be tough. If our gamer partners can have their own communities, we should have one too!

Therefore, I feel the term “trollmate” should be used to refer to all of us!

If any of the following apply to you, YOU are a trollmate:

Your man plays video games
Your man plays a “nerdy” card or board game
Your man is an internet troll
Your man has ever said the word “4chan” or “torrent”
You’re a gamer girl with a boyfriend who games
You’re a gamer girl who wants a boyfriend who games
You want to know more about internet culture, but don’t know where to start

Trollmates come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Also, if you’re a girl who has a girlfriend who’s a gamer, disregard “your man” and substitute accordingly. Trollmates don’t discriminate! You can be dating a gamer, a gamer yourself, or just be interested in learning something about internet culture and video games. Maybe you play games, maybe you troll yourself, maybe you don’t even know what a troll is! But we all want to find out more!
